Lori Gordon | L+M | screen print [2005]

Embrace. This coupling is formally duplicated in the form of two stacks of silver and blue images on white and teal backgrounds. Each unique print suggests a particular moment of creation. The action repeats over multiple prints, just as the artist and her husband intimately captured here, will be connected and hugging each other in many more instances throughout their lives. The hug has functioned as a main motif in Gordon’s performance work, with this specific image resulting from Close Encounters, in which she redeemed hug tickets for three hours and hugged over 200 people.
